It can be difficult to get motivated for a workout – we know, we’ve been there. Among all of us at Lime Ricki, we try to motivate ourselves with a good playlist, a fun class, or a treat after (we’ll admit it), but one of the things that makes us excited for a workout is using a great workout app! We all have our favorites, so we thought we’d make a list and share why they’re great with you so you can get your exercise on too.
This might not seem like a workout app at first glance, but do a quick search for exercise videos and you’ll see that it is! Our team member Jennifer loves to use it for her morning yoga routine. Check out the channel Yoga With Adrienne for a great starting point!
Seven is one of the several 7 minute workout apps out there that guide you through a short workout of different movements. Nicole loves this one because it connects with her Apple Watch and also has animations showing you exactly how to do the exercises.
If you’re looking to get serious about exercising, this app is a great place to start. Choose a workout put together by a real trainer or even a celebrity, complete with videos and encouraging words coming through your headphones. Workouts range from 6 to 45 minutes depending on what you’re looking for, and you can also put together a four week plan that’s customized to you. Our team member Shannon has been using this app for years!
This one isn’t exactly a workout app, but it is a health app for those trying to lose a few pounds. Lose It helps you log what you’re eating and when you’re exercising and track your progress toward your goal.
Similar to Lose It, My Fitness Pal helps you track everything you have going on in your life health-wise. Harlee loves this one because it gives her the big picture about what’s going on with her body and motivates her to make healthy changes.
Downloading Cody is free, but you must pay for each month-long plan. Unlike the NTC app which guides you through exercise reps, Cody is full of actual classes (yoga, barre, pilates, etc) taught by certified instructors. Amanda, on our team, mentioned this one – she hasn’t tried it yet, but she’s dying to!
Fitbit is a free app, but it’s not going to be much use unless you own a Fitbit tracker, which is why we included it on our paid app list. Fitbits keep track of how many steps you take per day, as well as your exercise, sleep, and active minutes. You can log your food and water in the app as well if you choose. Alacia loves this one to motivate herself to stay active, and especially loves doing challenges with friends through the app to get extra motivated.
If you’ve heard of Kayla Itsines workout guides, you might be familiar with her app. A subscription to it comes with new workouts every weeks as well as recipes and a way to plan out your meals day by day. Nicole tried this one for a while and said she loves the way the workouts pushed her to go farther than she thought she could.
What are some of your favorite exercise apps or ways to workout? Before you get your sweat on, make sure you grab one of our bralettes or high neck crops – they both double as workout tops and will make you the most stylish one at the gym!
