One of our favorite things about the holiday season is the music. It’s finally that time of year when we can bring out those Christmas playlists on our iPods, dust off those old Christmas records and fill our calls with some of our favorite holiday music. While there’s no denying the beauty and perfection of those classic holiday tunes that have been around for 30, 40, 50 and even 60 years, every once in a while a new holiday album comes out that’s worth a listen. Enter She & Him.
The indie-pop duo consists of New Girl herself Zooey Deschanel and folk-rocker M. Ward. Having already released two successful, critically-acclaimed albums, the duo opted this year for a Christmas album as their third release. A Very She & Him Christmas contains the band’s own take on 12 holiday classics like “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Silver Bells” and “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.”
Like previous She & Him albums, A Very She & Him Christmas contains the duo’s classic, vintage-pop sound – created with the use of piano, guitar, organ, ukulele and percussions – set to Deschanel and Ward’s soft, beautiful vocals. Although the song’s aren’t their own, this is probably their most polished and charming record yet. If you’re looking for some new holiday tunes to add to your collection or are in need of some fun stocking stuffers, look no further than She & Him.
